Student have several places to work and materials that are available at all times. This allows for small grouping, differentiation, and individual needs of students.

During the first week of school, it is important to establish a common set of rules and regulations for in the classroom and the entire school. To create classroom rules, I let the students write a list of rules they think are appropriate. Then we discuss the rules and work together to rewrite them positively to create an environment of respect and rapport.

Our school has adopted a set of school-wide rules. I have the students act out the rules in a positive way and refer to them often.

To manage student behavior, I first make sure the students know what is expected of them. Then I created an "Academic and Behavior" observation sheet. This form is discussed with the parents at the first conference. If students have all satisfactory marks, there is no need to send this form home. However, if students have several unsatisfactory marks, this form is filled out and sent home weekly in the assessment folder. It is helpful to have parents help with their own child's behavior management plan.

A daily checklist was also created for a couple students who have severe organization problems.
